step-by-step Design process

It all starts with a conversation. We set up a phone or Skype call to chat about your space and design needs. Once we realize we’re a perfect fit, we schedule a 90-minute on-site Visioning Session. We get to know each other better, brainstorm together and decide on a personalized design strategy for your project. At this point we officially start our design adventure together!

Next I return to my studio and develop mood boards for inspiration: a collection of images, sketches, colors and textures to convey the "look and feel" of your space. This is where we determine your style direction and design concept. Once you have reviewed your mood boards and indicated your preferences, we are ready to move on to the next step.

I take detailed measurements of your space and inventory existing items to begin space-planning and develop furniture layouts. I then provide you with a schematic design presentation, including preliminary drawings, furnishing & finishes, and proposal/estimate - essentially everything to begin visualizing your new space.

After we review the schematic design presentation together, and have taken careful note of your preferences, I return to the drawing table to develop and refine the design to the next level. I create a final set of drawings, possibly 3-D views of key areas, color and finish palette for each space, and finalize product selections and proposal/estimate.

Once you approve the final design, I ask for a full deposit on product proposal amount, and I begin ordering and purchasing all product. I communicate with vendors and collaborate with an array of trade, craftspeople and builders to ensure a smooth process and install. Once installation is complete, I personally walk through the space with you and review any details that may need adjustment. Then comes the final reveal…and your space is blissfully ready to be enjoyed!
